Person
Jakub Karol Parnas
Biochemist who detailed the enzymes that regulate glycolysis in the 1930s.
He was a Polish biochemist, born in 1884 and deceased in 1949, who studied carbohydrate metabolism. His scientific work was carried out in academic institutions in central and eastern Europe.
He made decisive contributions to understanding glycolysis, particularly its reactions and enzymes. His name forms part, with Gustav Embden's and Otto Meyerhof's, of the historical designation Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas.
The video states that in the 1930s he contributed to the detailed study of enzymes that regulate glycolysis. That work completed the pathway scheme presented in the video.
