DNA replication
Process by which the cell copies its DNA before dividing.
It is the semiconservative process by which one DNA molecule serves as a template to synthesize two daughter molecules before cell division. Each resulting molecule retains one parental strand and contains one newly synthesized strand.
Replication ensures faithful transmission of genetic information and is coordinated with proofreading and repair mechanisms. Its enzymes and protein complexes must copy extensive genomes with high precision.
The video describes topoisomerase relieving tension in the helix and helicase separating the strands to form the replication fork. Primase places primers, DNA polymerase III adds nucleotides, and DNA polymerase I and ligase complete and join the fragments.
