Howard Temin
Geneticist who co-discovered reverse transcriptase in 1970.
He was an American geneticist, born in 1934 and deceased in 1994, specialized in the study of RNA tumor viruses. He carried out his work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He is recognized for independently discovering, together with David Baltimore, reverse transcriptase in 1970, a finding for which both received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1975.
The video presents him together with Baltimore as co-discoverer, in 1970, of this enzyme no one believed possible, and notes that the finding earned him the Nobel Prize five years later.
