Entity
Glucose 6-phosphate
First product of glycolysis, formed by phosphorylating glucose.
It is a phosphate ester of glucose, formed by phosphorylation of carbon 6, that acts as a metabolic intermediate. Its negative charge prevents it from freely crossing the plasma membrane.
Glucose 6-phosphate is a branch point between glycolysis, glycogen synthesis, and the pentose phosphate pathway. It therefore integrates the energetic use of glucose with production of reducing equivalents and biosynthetic precursors.
The video states that it is produced in the first reaction when hexokinase transforms glucose. It also explains that it can be diverted into the pentose phosphate pathway, where it supplies NADPH and ribose 5-phosphate, and that it inhibits hexokinase itself.

Estas enzimas son la hexoquinasa, que es inhibida por glucosa 6-fosfato, su propio producto, evitando que las células sigan captando y fosforilando glucosa cuando ya tienen suficiente.
